Terrell Davis, former NFL player, shared his experience of being handcuffed and removed from a United Airlines flight after trying to get the attention of a flight attendant for a cup of ice for his son. During the incident, the flight attendant accused him of hitting him. Davis felt demoralized and humiliated, as he was escorted off the plane in front of his family by FBI agents, only for the matter to be cleared up quickly. Davis, who is Black, expressed feeling like he was treated differently because of his race, and his wife described the incident as traumatizing, particularly for their children. The flight attendant was removed from duty as United Airlines investigates the matter, while Davis’s attorney expressed dissatisfaction with the airline’s response. The incident, which saw FBI agents respond to a report of a violent assault, did not result in any charges being pursued, but it remains under investigation. Davis and his family hope for policy changes and a sincere apology from the airline, calling for them to be held accountable for the trauma experienced.
