Caitlin Clark made history by recording the first triple-double by a rookie in WNBA history in Indiana’s 83-78 victory over New York. Her performance, which included 19 points, 13 assists, and 12 rebounds, helped end the Fever’s nine-game losing streak to the Liberty. Clark previously fell one rebound short of a triple-double in a recent game against the Phoenix Mercury.
The game was closely contested, with the score tied at 75 with 2:31 left to play. Indiana managed to pull ahead with key plays from Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell. New York’s Sabrina Ionescu and Betnijah Laney-Hamilton tried to keep the Liberty in the game, but Indiana’s strong finish secured the upset victory.
Boston contributed 18 points and eight rebounds, while Mitchell added 14 points. NaLyssa Smith also had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. On the other side, Ionescu led New York with 22 points, followed by Laney-Hamilton with 20. Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones also made significant contributions for the Liberty.
Indiana had a strong start, taking an early lead before New York fought back to take the lead in the second quarter. The game remained close throughout, but Indiana’s resilience and clutch plays down the stretch secured the win. This victory marked the Fever’s first win over the Liberty since May 13, 2022, and improved their all-time series record to 50-41.
