European complicity in Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has been brought to light, as countries continue to supply arms and support to Israel despite international condemnation. The European Union is the second-largest arms supplier to Israel, with Germany being the largest supplier. German companies like Rheinmetall and ThyssenKrupp have been involved in the production of weapons used in Gaza, violating international law. European public money is also being used to fund companies that arm Israel, with over 426 million euros supporting these entities. The EU has granted millions in research funding to Israeli entities, some of which are involved in the development of digital war tools used in Gaza. Despite growing evidence of genocide in Gaza, European countries have failed to impose a full arms embargo on Israel, contributing to the ongoing violence. The EU’s failure to act against Israel’s actions has raised questions about its commitment to human rights and the rule of law. With an interim ruling from the International Court of Justice on the plausibility of genocide, there is a growing call for the EU to take action and prevent further complicity in Israel’s crimes. Failure to do so may tarnish the EU’s credibility and legitimacy on the world stage.
