Ryan Garcia was expelled from the World Boxing Council for using racial slurs against Black people and disparaging Muslims during a livestream on social media. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman announced the penalty and stated that any form of discrimination would be rejected. Garcia posted an apology on social media, claiming that he was only trolling and wants the violence to stop. His attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Additionally, Garcia had been previously suspended for a year by the New York State Athletic Commission for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. The commission also ruled that his victory over Devin Haney would be considered a no-contest. Stay updated with NBC BLK by signing up for their weekly newsletter.
