Simi Valley wildfire rapidly expands to 133 acres, prompting evacuations – Daily News


A brush fire named the Sharp fire quickly grew to more than 130 acres in a neighborhood in Simi Valley, prompting the evacuation of 60 homes. The fire started around 2 p.m. and burned five acres, threatening nearby houses. Multiple aircraft and helicopters were used to battle the blaze. Another fire had erupted earlier in the day nearby, burning four acres before being contained.
Residents living along Ditch Road were ordered to evacuate, while those east of Erringer Road and south of Lost Canyon Drive were put under an evacuation warning. An evacuation center was set up at the Rancho Santa Susana Community Center for those impacted by the fires.
As of the latest update, the Sharp fire was reported to be 133 acres with 0% containment. The Ventura County Fire Department is working to contain the fire and is urging residents in the area to follow evacuation orders and stay safe. The cause of the fires is still under investigation, and firefighters are tirelessly working to protect the homes and properties in the affected neighborhood.
